Timeless Anthropology of the Soul: Sculpted Silver Fine Art Jewellery

A new fine silver sculpture in process. I’m very excited to fire and finish this piece. But first a few more pieces need to be ready for the kiln. Stay tuned!

Timeless anthropology of the soul.

As strange as this phrase may sound I believe it sums up my “why" for sculpting in silver.

Seeking to reveal the story of our human experience as individuals as we relate to the world around us.

I want to reach into the mystery, where the love and power of the heart find connection in our natural world. Creating these small touchstones of love and memory in silver means they will last a lifetime and well beyond. Lifetimes.

Truly, these precious metal sculptures are legacies of love and hope; connections to the ephemeral, incorporeal. Unearthing, revealing and cherishing intricate and intimate parts of each person’s story, mine and yours. Touched by the flow of time, glowing with history and meaning.

Stories of our bold, wild natural world - where Conservation meets tamed lives and draws us into a deeper connection with Nature, ourselves and each other. Or Stories of our beloved animal family, cherished forever. What other stories would you choose to celebrate in silver?

Sculpting has been a quiet fascination of mine since I was a child and played with Plasticine. As I grew up I found it hard to imagine sculpting as a professional artist. Instead I followed the path of least resistance and fell into working to commission in a variety of media like watercolour, charcoal and oils. However, the drive to sculpt - to call into being with my two hands a fully dimensional piece that represents a creature, place or feeling has insisted on being given life. So, I’m following the call.

Expressing sculpture as wearable art in precious metal that will offer many lifetimes of enjoyment and wonder is deeply satisfying.

Creating in this art form permits me the rare opportunity to make an extraordinary connection with my collectors needs and desires. Its a process of unearthing, discovery and celebration of our own journey.

I’ve never been a fashionista, never one to chase trends or only desire the “tiny, shiny" designs in jewellery. Once upon a time, when I modeled, knowing trends and following them was part of the job description. But it never suited me well. I’ve never been good with boxes and being told what to do.

After all, I didn’t become an artist to fit someone else’s mold, and its taken years to start putting down roots in this God given identity.

I hope you find among these miniature sculptures, a piece that echoes something in your own heart.
